Jaw crusher is a primary‑stage coarse‑crushing equipment, mainly used for handling high‑hardness bulk raw materials in mines, quarrying, construction waste recycling and metallurgy industries. Its crushing principle relies on extrusion, bending and partial impact force between fixed jaw plate and movable jaw plate.
Main processable hard materials
Ores & minerals
- Granite: High hardness, widely used for aggregate production. Jaw crusher is the preferred primary crushing device.
- Basalt: High‑density, abrasive rock for highway and concrete aggregates.
- Quartz stone / quartzite: Extremely high hardness, for silica sand raw material processing.
- Iron ore: Hematite, magnetite; large‑size raw ore primary crushing for mineral processing plants.
- Copper ore, lead‑zinc ore: Non‑ferrous metal raw ore coarse crushing.
- Manganese ore: High‑hardness manganese‑containing ore, suitable for large‑model heavy‑duty jaw crushers.
- Limestone (hard type): Hard limestone can be processed; soft limestone is also workable but often chooses other crushers for better grain shape.
- Gneiss, diorite, gabbro: Various hard metamorphic and igneous rocks.
Construction & recycling materials
- Concrete blocks: Waste reinforced concrete, construction waste (remove steel bars in advance).
- Hard brick & tile fragments: High‑strength waste bricks.
- River pebbles / cobblestones: Large‑size hard pebbles for artificial sand making front‑end crushing.
Other hard bulk materials
- Slag, steel slag: Industrial hard slag (need to pay attention to iron impurities, install iron remover).
- Hard coal gangue: High‑hardness gangue crushing.
Materials NOT suitable for jaw crusher
- Wet sticky clay, wet mud: Easy to block the crushing cavity, reduce output.
- Very soft materials such as rotten wood, soft coal: Poor crushing effect, not cost‑effective.
- Materials with a large amount of fine powder in feeding: Easy to cause cavity blockage.
