Complete daily maintenance knowledge of jaw crusher

1. Pre-shift Daily Inspection (Before Startup)

  1. Check the tightness of all fastening bolts, especially the jaw plate, toggle plate, bearing seat and foundation anchor bolts. Tighten loose bolts immediately.
  2. Inspect wear parts: movable jaw plate, fixed jaw plate, side liners, toggle plate and toggle seat. Check for cracks, severe abrasion or chipping. Replace components when wear exceeds the limit.
  3. Check lubrication system: confirm the oil level of bearings is within the standard range. Check grease quality, no deterioration, impurity or water mixing. Check oil pipe and grease nipple for blockage or leakage.
  4. Check the clearance of discharge opening, verify it meets the required particle size. Remove any foreign materials (iron block, steel bar, wood) inside the crushing cavity.
  5. Check the transmission part: check V-belts for cracking, aging, slack or uneven tension. Check flywheel and pulley for abnormal cracks. Guard safety protective cover must be intact and firmly fixed.
  6. Check electrical system: cables, switches, grounding device, emergency stop button. Ensure no exposed wire, short circuit risk. Check dustproof and waterproof condition of motor.
  7. Check auxiliary equipment: feeding chute, receiving hopper, sealing plates, dust removal device. Remove accumulated materials to prevent blockage.

2. Maintenance During Operation

  1. Monitor running sound: normal operation has stable mechanical sound. Stop immediately if there appears sharp metal impact, continuous knocking or rumbling noise.
  2. Monitor bearing temperature: bearing temperature shall not exceed 70℃. If overheating occurs, stop the machine to check lubrication, bearing damage or overload problem.
  3. Check vibration: observe abnormal violent vibration of the main machine. Do not continue operation when vibration exceeds standard.
  4. Feed evenly: strictly forbid oversized raw materials and uncrushable metal objects entering crushing chamber. Keep feeding material distribution uniform, avoid unilateral feeding.
  5. Check discharge status: monitor discharge particle size and output. If particle size becomes coarse, check jaw liner wear and discharge gap.
  6. Do not perform cleaning, repair or adjustment work while the equipment is running. Never reach into crushing cavity with hands or tools.
  7. Regularly replenish lubricating grease according to specification during continuous operation.

3. Post-shift Daily Maintenance (After Shutdown)

  1. Stop feeding first, run the crusher until all materials inside crushing cavity are fully discharged, then shut down the host motor.
  2. Clean the whole machine: clear accumulated materials on the frame, hopper and surrounding area. Clean dust on motor and bearing housing. Do not use high-pressure water to directly wash motor and electrical components.
  3. Recheck wear parts, record wear condition for maintenance plan.
  4. Inspect lubrication points, replenish grease if needed; handle oil leakage in time.
  5. Check V-belt tension, clean dust between belts.
  6. Check all safety guards, reset protective parts if they are displaced.
  7. Check pipeline and dust removal system, clear blockages.
  8. Fill in daily maintenance log: record running time, abnormal phenomenon, parts inspection and maintenance work.

4. Periodic Maintenance (Based on Working Hours)

Weekly Maintenance

  • Comprehensive re-tightening of all bolts
  • Full inspection of toggle plate, toggle seat and spring assembly
  • Deep cleaning of lubrication pipelines, test grease circulation
  • Inspection of bearing clearance

Monthly Maintenance

  • Measure wear thickness of jaw plates and side liners
  • Check bearing internal clearance, check for pitting or corrosion
  • Inspect frame, check for weld cracks at stress points
  • Test motor insulation, check cable aging
  • Calibrate discharge opening gap

Quarterly / Seasonal Maintenance

  • Replace bearing lubricating grease completely
  • Disassemble and inspect toggle plate assembly
  • Check flywheel and pulley key connection
  • Inspect foundation concrete for cracks, re-grout if foundation sinks

Annual Overhaul

  • Full disassembly of main body
  • Replace seriously worn bearings, jaw liners and toggle plate
  • Check eccentric shaft for bending, abrasion and fatigue cracks
  • Repair or weld frame cracks
  • Complete inspection and maintenance of the whole electrical control system

5. Lubrication Maintenance Specifications

  1. Bearings adopt high-quality lithium-based grease. The grease filling volume accounts for 1/3 ~ 2/3 of bearing housing space. Too much grease will cause overheating.
  2. Replace grease completely every 3–6 months. Clean bearing chamber with clean kerosene before refilling.
  3. Keep grease storage environment clean, prevent sand, dust and water mixing into grease.
  4. In low-temperature environment, select low-temperature type grease; for high-temperature heavy-duty working condition, use high-temperature resistant grease.

6. Common Fault & Maintenance Notes

  1. Metal impact sound inside crushing cavity: foreign hard objects enter cavity, jaw liner loose, toggle plate fall off. Stop and inspect immediately.
  2. Bearing high temperature: insufficient grease, grease contamination, bearing damage, eccentric shaft misalignment, overload feeding.
  3. Output drop, coarse discharge: jaw plate serious wear, feeding uneven, discharge gap too large.
  4. V-belt slipping: belt aging, insufficient tension, overload feeding. Adjust tension or replace belts in groups.
  5. Abnormal vibration: loose foundation bolts, unbalanced flywheel, eccentric shaft bearing damage.

7. Safety Principles for Maintenance

  1. Cut off the power supply and hang maintenance warning sign before any overhaul work. Lockout-tagout (LOTO) operation is mandatory.
  2. Do not use hand to take materials inside crushing cavity; use special tools.
  3. When disassembling heavy parts (jaw plate, toggle plate), use professional lifting tools, avoid casual hoisting.
  4. After maintenance, check that all tools and sundries are removed from equipment before restarting test run.
  5. Operators must wear protective equipment: safety helmet, protective goggles, anti-slip shoes.

8. Long-term Shutdown Preservation

  1. Clean all materials and dust on the whole machine.
  2. Apply anti-rust grease on machined surfaces, eccentric shaft, bearing parts.
  3. Loosen V-belts to eliminate long-term tension.
  4. Cover the equipment with waterproof and dustproof tarpaulin.
  5. Check anti-rust condition regularly.
